In the aftermath of the devastating floods that hit Rasuwa on Tuesday, the bodies of nine individuals have been found. Among them, one body was discovered in Chitwan on Tuesday night, bringing the total death toll to nine.
According to the latest information provided by the police headquarters, there are still 19 individuals missing and presumed to be missing. Lal Bahadur Shrestha, a police assistant inspector who went missing in the floods that swept through Rasuwa, was found dead near the Trishuli River in Chitwan, approximately 15 kilometers away.
As the search and rescue operations continue, the central spokesperson for the police, Deputy Inspector General Vinod Ghimire, confirmed that out of the initial 20 missing individuals, 19 are still unaccounted for.
In the ongoing rescue efforts, it has been reported that two police officers, six Chinese nationals, and 11 civilians are among the missing. The police have managed to rescue 57 individuals so far.
A total of 383 police personnel were involved in the search and rescue operations for those affected by the floods. The floods caused extensive damage, including the collapse of the Miteri Bridge in the Nepal-China border area, destruction of 24 containers, six trucks, and 35 heavy equipment vehicles. Some roads leading from Dhunche to Timure have also been blocked, and damage has been reported at the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Dam and the Bansar Office yard in Rasuwa.
Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his concern over the devastating impact of the floods, emphasizing the urgent need for coordinated emergency response efforts to mitigate further loss of life and property in the region.
