In Kathmandu, Nepal Electricity Authority’s dues have reached NPR 48 billion 26 crores as per the 62nd annual report of the Auditor General. This amount has increased by 8.88% compared to the previous year.

The report mentions that approximately half of the total dues are owed by 59 customers for trunk and dedicated lines. An outstanding amount of NPR 23 billion 44 crores is yet to be recovered from these customers, accounting for 48.57% of the total dues.

Additionally, the report also highlights that there is an outstanding amount of NPR 6 billion 89 crores related to street lights. The Auditor General has suggested improvements in debt recovery and emphasized the need to focus on revenue security.
