A new sister city relationship has been established between Mandan Deupur Municipality in Kavrepalanchok, Nepal, and Fujinomiya City in Japan. This agreement encompasses cooperation in various sectors such as agriculture, tourism, social, and cultural activities. The formal announcement of this sister city relationship was made after an official visit by a delegation led by the Mayor of Fujinomiya City, Hitotada Sudosahita, to Mandan Deupur Municipality on Sunday.
During the second special assembly of the Municipality Council held in 2081, Mayor Tok Bahadur Waiba of Mandan Deupur and Sudole exchanged signatures to solidify the agreement. The Mayor of Fujinomiya City, along with the Nepalese Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Durga Suvedi, facilitated the coordination for this sister city relationship.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his views on this development, stating that the establishment of ties between developed country Japan and the Municipality is a matter of pride. He highlighted the potential for progress in agriculture, tourism, social, economic, educational, and cultural activities, which could further contribute to the development of the region. Khatri also mentioned that Japan has been a significant supporter of Nepal’s development in the past and believes that this relationship will bring substantial benefits to Mandan Deupur’s progress.
Mayor Waiba emphasized the historical significance of the moment as the beginning of the relationship between the two cities. He expressed confidence that this collaboration will shed light on various dimensions of both municipalities in the days to come. He stated, “Now we will strengthen the ties between our two cities.”
In a significant move, a delegation from Mandan Deupur visited Fujinomiya City in the previous month, where the agreement on the sister city relationship was initially discussed. Today, the agreement has been formalized, marking a new chapter in the bilateral relations between the two cities.
