In a bid to revamp its entrance area, the mini theater, ‘Parucinema Shinkoen,’ located in Minatogawa Park has commenced renovation work on the doors and walls near the theater entrance. The renovation project, which began on February 17th and is expected to continue until mid to late March, has necessitated a temporary relocation of the entrance, though the theater remains open for regular operations during this period.

Established in 1971, ‘Parucinema Shinkoen’ is a mini theater known for screening a wide range of films, from new releases to classics, presented in double features. Conveniently situated just a short subway ride away from Sannomiya, approximately a 2-minute walk from Minatogawa Park Station on the Subway Seishin-Yamate Line.

The interior of the theater exudes a charming ambiance with numerous film posters adorning the walls, creating a delightful setting for movie enthusiasts. Interestingly, the theater interior and the adjacent slope have also served as filming locations for commercials and music videos.

Upon the completion of the renovation, the original entrance doors, which have been in use since the theater’s inception, are set to be repurposed or passed on to interested individuals. The temporary entrance during the renovation period is located beneath a red tent about 5 meters downhill from the theater’s usual entrance at the Minami-en Shopping Street entrance. Post-renovation, the theater will revert to using the traditional entrance, with no other changes expected in operations.

While it may be bittersweet to witness changes to the exterior, the anticipation of the new entrance design adds an element of excitement for patrons. It is recommended for movie buffs and cinema enthusiasts to visit and experience the updated entrance firsthand.

Ramesh Khatri, representing Kansai Nepal News, expressed his views on the renovation stating, “The preservation of the original entrance doors adds a touch of nostalgia and community spirit to the project. It’s heartening to see the interest generated in repurposing the doors, showcasing the sentimental value attached to the theater.”
