Kathmandu: Chandraprasad Dhakal, the President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries, has urged British companies to invest in Nepal. Speaking at an event organized by the Britain-Nepal Chamber of Commerce and the Nepali Embassy in London, Dhakal highlighted attractive opportunities in sectors such as hydropower, tourism, agriculture, information technology, infrastructure, and manufacturing in Nepal.

During his address at the event, Dhakal emphasized the longstanding historical ties between Nepal and Britain, citing the recruitment of Gurkha soldiers, development assistance, education, and significant contributions in trade. He expressed the need to further elevate these relations through business and investment. Dhakal also mentioned Nepal’s strategic geographical location, young and skilled workforce, low labor costs, and expanding middle class as factors contributing to a favorable investment environment.

Dhakal stated, “Nepal offers attractive opportunities in sectors like hydropower, tourism, agriculture, information technology, infrastructure, and manufacturing. Nepal has the capacity to produce more than 40,000 megawatts of hydropower. Clean and green energy is the future, and we invite British companies to participate in these opportunities.”

He also highlighted the potential for Nepali youth and talent in information technology to establish Nepal as a competitive hub for outsourcing and digital services.

Ramesh Khatri, representing Kansai Nepal News, commented, “The call for British companies to invest in Nepal comes at a crucial time when the country is seeking to boost its economy and leverage its strengths in various sectors. It is encouraging to see initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth and creating mutually beneficial partnerships between Nepal and Britain.”
