Kathmandu Metropolitan City has put a halt on all gatherings and events, including the upcoming important festival of Pahachanhele, scheduled to be celebrated on Chaitra 15. The decision was made to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure public safety. The Metropolitan Police issued a statement on Friday requesting the public to refrain from organizing any gatherings, meetings, or conferences in Kathmandu.
Pahachanhele is a significant festival celebrated by the community in Kathmandu, and its cancellation has disappointed many residents. The festival usually involves various cultural activities, rituals, and gatherings that bring people together to celebrate and worship. However, with the current health crisis, authorities are prioritizing the well-being of the public by implementing preventive measures.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his concerns about the cancellation of the Pahachanhele festival. He emphasized the importance of following the government’s guidelines to curb the spread of the virus but also highlighted the cultural and social impact of such cancellations. Khatri mentioned that while safety should be the top priority, finding a balance between health measures and preserving cultural traditions is crucial for the community’s well-being and identity.
