The U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu is set to implement changes in the visa appointment system starting from February 8th. With the new system, the login, profile creation, and appointment scheduling pages will undergo a transformation, differing from the previous system. According to the American Embassy in Kathmandu, users logging in with the new system will be required to create a new profile, and this arrangement will also apply to existing users.
Under the new system, each visa applicant, including minors, will be mandated to have a profile with their email address, and the embassy has made it clear that the email address must be active for effective communication.
Following the implementation of the new system, existing users will need to click on the sign-up link to register their profiles, and using the email previously used for payments and future appointment registrations will be mandatory.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, believes that these changes will streamline the visa application process and improve communication between applicants and the embassy. He appreciates the embassy’s efforts to enhance efficiency and transparency in the appointment system.
Prior to the full implementation of the new system, from February 5th to 7th, visa fee payments and certain services at the center will not be available. However, pre-scheduled interviews will generally proceed as planned, even if rescheduling may not be possible during this period.
The embassy ensures that passport handling and collection, as well as document submission and interview waiver services, will continue as usual during this period. This commitment aims to provide clarity and convenience to visa applicants during the transition to the new appointment system.
