Recently, the performance of the Nepali team during their tour of Scotland has brought about improvements in the priorities of the players. According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the newly published player rankings have seen some Nepali players move up in the hierarchy based on their recent performances.

In the triangular T20I series between Scotland, Nepal, and the Netherlands, the public priority rankings have not had much impact on the team’s priorities. Nepal had secured victories in two out of four matches in the series. However, the team currently holds the 18th position in the rankings, despite their performance being consistent with their ranking. The players’ priorities seem to have shifted above their current rankings.

Deepender Singh Airee stands out as the top-ranked Nepali player with the most outstanding priority. He currently holds the third position as an all-rounder in the recent T20I rankings. Airee has maintained this position for a long time and has excelled not only in batting but also in the rankings. He is currently ranked 61st in batting, making him one of the top Nepali players in terms of batting performance.

Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel, who did not perform well in the Scotland series, has dropped two positions and is now ranked 66th. Opener Asif Sheikh has also dropped to 79th position after losing two spots. Another opener, Kushal Bhurtel, improved his batting ranking by 10 places and is now placed 83rd.

Despite the improvements in batting priorities, the bowling department has been lacking, with two spinners failing to make a significant impact. Sandeep Lamichhane, who took 9 wickets in the triangular series, only managed to climb to the 75th position despite his performance. Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, who picked up 4 wickets, is currently at the 54th spot. Deepender Singh Airee improved his bowling ranking by one position and is now at 81st place.

All-rounder Kushal Bhurtel, who is an opener and a leg spinner, has shown improvements by climbing to the 32nd position. Similarly, all-rounder Gulshan Jha moved up 8 spots to 61st, and captain Rohit Kumar Paudel gained 5 positions to reach 66th. Players like Kushal Malla, who is currently outside the team, also made progress by moving up 6 places to 67th, along with Karan KC, who climbed one place to 81st.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, commented on the recent news, stating that the performance of the Nepali team in Scotland has been commendable, with certain players showing significant improvements in their rankings. He emphasized the need for consistent performances to maintain and improve their rankings in future matches.
