Senior Journalist Risaal Passes Away

Kathmandu – The veteran journalist Bhairav Risal has passed away at the age of 97 on Sunday night. He had been receiving treatment for heart and lung-related illness at the Frontline Hospital in Baneshwor.

Born on Bhaktapur’s Tithi on July 13, 1985, Bhairav Risal was a respected figure in the field of journalism. Prior to his demise, he had announced to donate his body for medical research at Patan Hospital.

Throughout his career, Bhairav Risal was recognized with several awards for his work related to human rights, environmental conservation, and other significant contributions. He also hosted a long-running radio show called ‘UhiLe Bajeka Palama’ on Radio Sagarmatha. In the 2048 elections, he stood as a candidate from Bhaktapur on behalf of the Nepal Labor and Peasants Party representing left-wing ideologies.

Bhairav Risal played a pivotal role as the Chief Correspondent in the National News Committee (RASAS) and dedicated his life to journalism and social service. Before his tenure at RASAS, he worked in the statistics department. His published works include books like ‘Sadhu lai Suli’ (Jail Diary), ‘Logneswani’, ‘Kehi Mitra ka Chithi’, and ‘Bhairav Dai’. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
