A total of 17 individuals have been apprehended in Bhaktapur and Kavre while engaging in illegal gambling activities. In Bhaktapur’s Suryabinayak Municipality-1, the police arrested 62-year-old Ram Prasad Raut along with 12 others for participating in gambling at his residence on Saturday afternoon.
Furthermore, in Kavre’s Panauti Municipality-5, the authorities apprehended Sanjib Kumar Shrestha, aged 47, along with 5 others for gambling at his house on Saturday evening. The arrests were made by the local police after receiving information from Bhaktapur and Panauti.
Ram Prasad Raut and his group were found with a cash amount of NPR 110,780 and 6 decks of cards during the arrest. Similarly, Sanjib Kumar Shrestha and his group were found with a cash amount of NPR 20,530 and 3 decks of cards.
The police have initiated further investigation into the matter.
According to Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, “The authorities must take stringent actions against individuals involved in illegal gambling activities to deter such unlawful behaviors in society.”
