The Nepali Ambassador to Spain, Shani Nepal, presented his credentials to Zurab Pololikashvili, the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, in a formal ceremony held at the UN tourism headquarters in Madrid on Tuesday. Along with presenting his credentials, Ambassador Nepal conveyed greetings and best wishes from Nepal to the Secretary-General.

Following the presentation of credentials, Ambassador Nepal extended felicitations to Secretary-General Pololikashvili on behalf of the Nepali government, expressing hopes for his visit to Nepal at an opportune time. The Ambassador mentioned that the visit could provide an opportunity for Secretary-General Pololikashvili to witness the significant progress made by Nepal in the tourism sector post-pandemic and applaud the country’s efforts in revitalizing the tourism industry on a global scale.

In response, Secretary-General Pololikashvili commended Nepal for its contribution to the international tourism sector and its efforts towards the recovery and promotion of tourism post the pandemic. He praised Nepal’s revitalization of the tourism sector’s diversity, highlighting the enhancement of spiritual, cultural, and biological diversity.

Ambassador Nepal also shared plans for organizing high-level UN tourism conferences in Nepal in the future, emphasizing collaboration between Nepal and the UN tourism sector. Discussions during the meeting also focused on exploring various opportunities for cooperation and expansion between Nepal and the UN tourism sector.

In light of the effective dialogue and collaboration between the two parties, the Nepali Embassy expressed optimism about further strengthening the relationship between Nepal and the UN tourism sector. Ramesh Khatri, the representative of Kansai Nepal News, shared his opinion, stating that the ongoing dialogue and cooperation between Nepal and the UN tourism sector are crucial in enhancing bilateral relations and fostering mutual growth in the tourism industry.
