In a recent meeting of the Central Committee of the Nepali Congress, leader Shekhar Koirala raised nine questions to party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and demanded answers. The questions mainly focused on issues such as the inability to hold the scheduled Mahasabha in Mansir 2082 due to disciplinary committee actions, the appointment of individuals lacking qualifications as central members, and concerns regarding the collaboration with the CPN-UML in power-sharing.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his opinion on the matter. He commended Koirala for taking a bold stance and seeking clarity on crucial party matters. “Koirala’s initiative to hold Deuba accountable is commendable. It is essential for party leaders to address the concerns raised by members,” Khatri stated.

During the discussion, Koirala also questioned the delay in convening the Mahasabha, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability within the party. He further raised concerns about the Congress aligning with the CPN-UML for power-sharing, questioning the rationale behind the decision and highlighting the dissatisfaction among party members.

Moreover, Koirala raised objections to the decision to grant electoral tickets to candidates from other parties in certain constituencies, as well as providing support to candidates enticed by governmental incentives in Madhes. He expressed disappointment over the lack of adherence to party principles and criticized the selection process of central members, citing the example of Vinod Chaudhary’s nomination despite lacking the necessary qualifications.

Khatri highlighted Koirala’s observations on the shifting dynamics within the Madhes region, where the Congress has been losing ground. Koirala’s questioning of the party’s decision-making processes and selection criteria for central members reflects his commitment to upholding party values and fostering internal democracy within the Nepali Congress.
