Special Report: High Possibility of Extreme Heat in Many Places in Terai

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a warning for the Terai region, forecasting exceptionally high temperatures in the coming two days. Residents are advised to take precautions due to the likelihood of extreme heat. The department’s Meteorological Forecasting Division has released a special bulletin regarding the hot wind wave expected tonight.

As summer progresses, the Terai region in Nepal experiences soaring temperatures, which can have various impacts on agriculture, health, and daily life. Extreme heatwaves can lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion, and even heatstroke, especially among vulnerable populations such as the elderly and children.

In light of this weather alert, Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, emphasized the importance of staying hydrated, avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours, and wearing light-colored and loose clothing to mitigate the effects of the heatwave. He also recommended checking on elderly neighbors and relatives to ensure their well-being during this period of heightened temperatures.
