“Spreading Awareness of Nepal’s Tourist Destinations Can Expand Tourists’ Visits”

The Deputy Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Prada Shivraj Aghikari, emphasized the importance of promoting and publicizing various tourist destinations in Nepal to attract more tourists to the country. Speaking at an event organized by the National News Committee (RASAS) on the occasion of the 18th Republic Day, Aghikari highlighted the need for better promotion of Nepal’s natural tourist destinations and cultural heritage.

Ramesh Khatri, representing Kansai Nepal News, shared his perspective on the significance of tourism in Nepal. He stated that tourism could become a key pillar of the country’s economy and stressed the importance of extending the stay of tourists and increasing their spending while visiting Nepal.

Aghikari also emphasized that apart from Himalayan tourism, Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, local lifestyles, cuisine, and religious practices could also attract tourists. He mentioned that the government has prioritized the tourism sector in policy-making and is implementing various plans and programs to benefit from it.

Furthermore, Aghikari highlighted the need for both domestic and international tourists to receive information about various tourist destinations through events like the RASAS photo exhibition. He mentioned that showcasing tourist spots that are off the beaten path can contribute to the understanding of local development and way of life.

The executive director of RASAS, Dharmendra Jha, expressed that the purpose of the photo exhibition was to shed light on the importance and beauty of Himalayas, Himalayan lifestyles, and various aspects of tourism. He expressed confidence that the exhibition would serve as a supportive platform for understanding the development and livelihoods associated with the showcased tourist destinations across the country.

The exhibition, which commenced from Jestha 11th, features 96 photos depicting various snow-capped mountain ranges, Himalayan lifestyles, and major tourist destinations from eastern to western Nepal.
