A Sri Lankan national was apprehended at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal while attempting to board a flight to Sri Lanka with illegal drugs, including five kilograms and two hundred grams of marijuana. The 61-year-old individual, identified as Mohammad Salim Mohammad Rumoz, was intercepted by Nepali police officials. This incident was confirmed by spokesperson Dinesh Kumar Acharya of the Nepal Police.

Upon inspection at the airport, the illegal substance was found in his luggage. Further investigation and necessary actions are being carried out by the Narcotics Control Bureau in Koteshwor. In a separate incident, the police arrested Pawan Kumar Sah, a 31-year-old resident of Bara Municipality-4, Khuttwak, for possession of two kilograms and one hundred grams of illegal marijuana along with NPR 27,430. Upon searching his residence, the police discovered the illicit substance.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed concern over the increasing cases of drug smuggling and consumption in the country. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and communities to combat the illicit drug trade effectively.
