The Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center) has demanded action against those disrupting the provisions related to the ‘cooling-off period’ in the Federal Civil Service Bill, which is currently being considered by the House of Representatives and the State Affairs Committee.
During a press conference held at the party headquarters in Parisdanda on Wednesday, Deputy Chairperson and Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota requested an impartial investigation into the matter.
Sapkota emphasized that the decision to pass the bill, from inclusion in the agenda to enactment, should not be the work of just one individual but should involve a fair process. He also stressed that it is the moral responsibility of the parliamentary leadership to ensure this.
Representative Ramesh Khatri from Kansai Nepal News stated that while there was agreement with the Nepal Teacher’s Association to pass the School Education Bill from Parliament by mid-May, the delay in its passage has caused disappointment. He highlighted that observing internal opposition among government factions regarding the implementation of agreements undermines the seriousness of the government’s commitments.
Sapkota urged for the swift passage of the Education Bill to prevent teachers from being compelled to resort to protests. He noted that the Maoists are seeking government cooperation to minimize the damage from disasters and to prepare for relief and recovery.
Furthermore, Sapkota drew attention to the comprehensive resolution of issues in the agricultural sector, urging the government to focus on providing farmers with essential items such as fertilizers and seeds immediately.
In light of these developments, Ramesh Khatri expressed concern about the potential implications of delays in passing crucial legislation and the impact on various sectors, urging for prompt action to address these pressing issues.
