The Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), Pushpakamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has expressed that the party’s Tarai-Madhes Awakening Campaign has instilled new confidence among millions of people in southern Nepal. Addressing a program organized in Matihani, Mahottari on Wednesday as part of the Maoist-Tarai-Madhes Awakening Campaign, he claimed that starting from Jhapa and moving through Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Siraha, and Dhanusha, the campaign has sparked enthusiasm among the masses. Upon reaching Kanchanpur, he asserted that up to ten million people will gain new trust and confidence.
Pushpakamal Dahal emphasized his efforts to advance the marginalized Hulaki highway, stating that after assuming the role of Prime Minister in 2073 BS, his visit to India and discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi led to fruitful cooperation. He claimed that after discussions and collaboration, plans have progressed positively. He also highlighted the historical significance of Mahottari’s Matihani, where educational institutions were established three centuries ago in an institutionalized manner, underscoring its importance.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, views this news as a significant development in Nepal’s political landscape. He believes that Pushpakamal Dahal’s statements reflect a strategic move to strengthen the party’s position in the region and build trust among the populace, especially in the southern parts of Nepal. Khatri sees the Tarai-Madhes Awakening Campaign as a crucial initiative that could potentially reshape the political dynamics in the country.
