In a recent report from the Mechi Bhansar Office in Jhapa, Nepal, it has been revealed that there has been a significant increase of 46.10% in tea exports in the first 10 months of the fiscal year. The office’s data shows that tea exports equivalent to NPR 3 billion 68 crore 22 lakh 47 thousand have been recorded.

According to information provided by Ishwarkumar Humagain, the Information Officer of the Mechi Bhansar Office, 13,886.77 metric tons of tea were exported in the current fiscal year’s first 10 months. This marks a substantial growth from the tea exports of NPR 2 billion 52 crore 10 lakh 14 thousand recorded in the same period in the fiscal year 2080-81.

The data from the office also indicates a 3.60% decrease in the export of cardamom from the month of Baisakh to Mangsir. During the last ten months, cardamom exports amounted to NPR 6 billion 66 crore 25 lakh 45 thousand, compared to NPR 6 billion 90 crore 94 lakh 48 thousand recorded in the corresponding period of the fiscal year 2080-81.

Furthermore, there has been a notable growth in the exports of various other products such as bay leaf at 79%, cinnamon at 7.70%, C.R. sheet at 62.20%, and molasses at 844.30%. Conversely, there has been a decrease in the exports of cement clinker at 3.90%, yarn at 16.20%, ginger at 59.40%, and jaggery at 13%.

Overall, the total export value of goods from the Mechi Bhansar Office in the first 10 months of the fiscal year amounts to NPR 21 billion 45 crore 93 lakh 23 thousand. This surge in exports reflects positively on the economy and trade sector of Nepal.

Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News, commented that the substantial increase in tea exports is a promising sign for Nepal’s economy, showcasing the potential for growth and development in the country’s export industry.
