In Pokhara, representatives from Gorkha have expressed solidarity with the ongoing teacher protests in Kathmandu. The teachers released a statement on Monday highlighting their disappointment over the government’s failure to implement the School Education Act despite it being passed a decade ago. This delay in implementing the act has been a cause of concern for educators in the district.
The protest in Kathmandu has brought to light the frustrations of teachers regarding the delayed enforcement of educational reforms. The School Education Act was designed to bring about improvements in the education system, addressing issues such as quality of education, teacher training, and infrastructure development. However, the lack of implementation has hindered the progress of these reforms.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, believes that the government’s inaction on implementing crucial education policies is a disservice to both teachers and students. He emphasizes the importance of prioritizing education reforms to ensure a better future for the younger generation. Khatri calls for swift action from authorities to address the concerns raised by educators and to work towards improving the education system in Nepal.
