“Telecom to Offer 25% Share to Public This Year”

Kathmandu – The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has recently announced that Nepal Telecom is considering offering a 25% share to the general public. This decision was disclosed during the 21st-anniversary celebration of Nepal Telecom.

Nepal Telecom, a leading telecommunication company in the country, has been exploring ways to involve the public in its ownership structure. Minister Gurung highlighted the importance of this move in his address at the anniversary event, emphasizing the potential benefits of allowing the general public to have a stake in the company.

This initiative by Nepal Telecom is seen as a significant step towards democratizing the ownership of such a vital sector in the country’s economy. By offering shares to the public, the company aims to foster greater transparency and accountability while also potentially increasing public participation in the telecommunications industry.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, views this development positively. He believes that involving the general public in the ownership of Nepal Telecom can lead to a more inclusive and competitive telecommunications sector in the country. According to Khatri, this move could empower consumers and enhance the overall efficiency and innovation within the industry.
