Kathmandu – In a thrilling match on Saturday, Bagmati Province emerged victorious, claiming their third win in the Prime Minister Cup cricket tournament. The match, held at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, saw Bagmati defeat Koshi by 131 runs.

Koshi, chasing a target of 241 runs, was bowled out for 109 runs in 25.3 overs. Avishek Bhattarai top-scored for Koshi with 37 runs, while Sujan Thapaliya contributed 25 runs. However, Firdosh Ansari remained unbeaten. Other players failed to make significant contributions to the team’s total.

For Bagmati, Surya Tamang was the standout performer, taking 5 wickets. He conceded 26 runs in 8 overs, completing his five-wicket haul. Additionally, he bowled 2 maiden overs. Rijan Dhakal and Sakar Gajurel took 3 and 2 wickets, respectively.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, Bagmati scored 240 runs, getting all out in 49.3 overs. Shubhankar Kansakar top-scored with 39 runs, supported by Ashutosh Ghiraiya’s 29 runs and Ishan Pandey’s 25 runs. Captain Prithu Baskota contributed 24 runs, while Vipin Acharaya remained unbeaten on 24 runs.

Sujan Thapaliya and Prakash Karki took 2 wickets each for Bagmati, while Firdosh Ansari, Dipesh Kandel, and Gyanendra Shrestha took 1 wicket each.

Ramesh Khatri, representing Kansai Nepal News, commented that Bagmati’s comprehensive victory showcased their strong all-round performance, with both batting and bowling departments excelling. He also highlighted Surya Tamang’s exceptional bowling display, which played a crucial role in securing the team’s win.
