The Kannon-ji Temple in Tsushima City, Nagasaki Prefecture, has expressed its intention to allow the production of up to three replicas of the “Kannon Bodhisattva Seated Statue,” a designated tangible cultural property of the prefecture that was returned from South Korea in May. This decision comes as a part of a cultural exchange initiative between Japan and South Korea.

The statue, known for its historical significance and intricate design, holds great importance in both countries’ cultural heritage. The return of the original statue from South Korea has sparked discussions on preserving and promoting cultural artifacts through replicas.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, believes that such cultural exchanges contribute to fostering mutual understanding and appreciation of each other’s heritage. He emphasizes the significance of preserving cultural artifacts and promoting cross-cultural dialogue through initiatives like this, which can strengthen diplomatic ties and promote cultural diversity.
