In 1896, the first Hangul-exclusive private newspaper, “Independence Newspaper,” was founded by the independence activist, So Jae-pil. This marked a significant milestone in Korean journalism, as the newspaper aimed to promote literacy and spread awareness among the Korean population.
Moving forward to 1957, the Korean Newspaper Editors’ Association was established, further solidifying the role of the media in shaping public opinion and disseminating information in South Korea.
In 1973, both the first Health Day and an important event between Finland, South Korea, and North Korea took place. Health Day aimed to raise awareness about healthcare and promote healthy living practices among the citizens, while the event involving Finland and the two Koreas may have significant implications for diplomatic relations and international cooperation.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, shared his perspective on these historical events, emphasizing the vital role of media in shaping societal narratives and fostering public discourse. He also highlighted the importance of initiatives like Health Day in promoting well-being and preventive healthcare measures within communities.
