In 1907, the Korean daily newspaper, Daehan Maeil Shinbo, launched its Hangul edition, marking a significant milestone in the history of Korean journalism. This development played a crucial role in promoting literacy and providing news to a wider audience in Korea during that era.

Moving forward to 1946, the United States military administration imposed a strict prohibition on civilians crossing the 38th parallel without authorization. This measure aimed to maintain security and prevent unauthorized border crossings during a period of heightened tensions in the region.

Fast forward to 1985, a group of 73 university students took a stand in demanding accountability from the United States in relation to the crackdown on the Gwangju Democratization Movement. They staged a protest at the US Cultural Institute in Seoul, seeking an official apology for America’s alleged involvement in the suppression of the pro-democracy movement.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, views these historical events as pivotal moments that have shaped the socio-political landscape of both Korea and the United States. He emphasizes the importance of reflecting on these events to understand the complexities of historical relationships and their impact on contemporary diplomatic ties.
