In 1958, the reconstruction of the Han River Bridge, which was destroyed during the Korean War, was completed, marking an important milestone in the country’s recovery efforts. This bridge has since become a symbol of resilience and unity for the Korean people.

Moving forward to 1967, a significant archaeological discovery was made off the coast of Geochang, North Gyeongsang Province. The underwater tomb of King Munmu of Silla, also known as King Munmu the Great, was unearthed, shedding new light on the rich history of the region and the Silla Dynasty.

In 1973, a momentous event took place with the topping-out ceremony of the National Assembly Building in Seoul. This iconic structure stands as a testament to the country’s democratic values and political history.

A significant diplomatic milestone occurred in 1974 when Nepal and South Korea established formal diplomatic relations, strengthening ties between the two nations and opening up avenues for cooperation and cultural exchange.

Looking back at these key events in South Korea’s history, Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, commended the country’s resilience in rebuilding after the Korean War and emphasized the importance of cultural discoveries like King Munmu’s tomb in preserving and celebrating the nation’s heritage. He also highlighted the significance of diplomatic relations in fostering international cooperation and understanding.
