A tragic incident occurred today in the Manikapur section of the Kailari Rural Municipality in Kailali district, along the Hulaki Rajmarg, where a young boy lost his life in a tractor accident involving Indian nationals. The mishap resulted in injuries to 27 individuals, with three of them sustaining serious injuries.
According to Lokraj Joshi, the police inspector of Kailali’s district police office, the deceased was identified as an 11-year-old boy named Ayus Burma from Lakhimpur Kheri district in Uttar Pradesh, India. Among the 27 injured individuals, all of whom are Indian citizens, three suffered severe injuries, as confirmed by the authorities.
The incident took place as a group of Indian pilgrims, who had visited the Behadaba Temple in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City for worship, were returning and the tractor they were riding on lost control and veered into a roadside ditch. The driver fled the scene, leaving the tractor unattended with its registration number unknown. It was noted that the Indian pilgrims intended to worship at the temple, considering it as their ancestral deity.
The body of the deceased child, who was crushed under the overturned trailer, has been recovered. The injured individuals have been rescued and provided with necessary medical treatment by the police, Red Cross personnel, and local authorities. They have been transported to the Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi and other medical facilities for further treatment.
