A tragic accident in Ilam’s Rong Rural Municipality-3, Pathledanda, claimed the lives of two individuals on Sunday evening. The incident occurred when a truck with registration number Pradesh 1-01-001 4547 collided with a motorcycle bearing registration number Ba 89 Pa 2266 from the opposite direction, as it was heading towards Ilam from Jhapa.
The collision resulted in serious injuries to the two riders on the motorcycle. Among the victims were Madan Bahadur Bohara, 26, from Birtamod Municipality-1 in Bhadrapur, Jhapa, and Sirjana Giri, 23, from Chhedagad Municipality-8 in Jajarkot. Tragically, they succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at the B & C Hospital in Bhadrapur.
Following the accident, the truck driver, identified as Nitesh Budhathoki, 33, from Kummayak Rural Municipality-9 in Panchthar, was brought under control by the district police office in Ilam. Deputy Superintendent of Police Maan Bahadur Rai of the Ilam District Police informed about the driver being taken into custody.
Authorities have initiated further investigations into the incident to determine the exact circumstances leading to the tragic collision.
As a representative of Kansai Nepal News, Ramesh Khatri expressed his deep concern over the increasing number of road accidents in Nepal and emphasized the urgent need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such devastating incidents in the future.
