A tragic accident in the Baglung district of Nepal has resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to five others. The incident occurred in the rural municipality of Badigad, specifically in Ward No. 10 towards Darlingtar, as a pickup jeep with registration number Lu 3 Cha 5569 met with an accident on Monday evening.
The victims of the accident have been identified as 75-year-old Khadka Bahadur Kunwar from Cholang, Nisikhola Rural Municipality-7, and 35-year-old Juna Kandel from Dhorpatan Municipality-5. The jeep reportedly lost control upon reaching Sirkhipata, leading to the tragic outcome. The authorities have mentioned that efforts were made to stop the vehicle when issues were observed with the brakes, but unfortunately, the accident still occurred.
Tejkumari Budha, a 63-year-old resident of Badigad-9, along with Nimasara Budha (50), Thamkumari Poudel (52), and Sita Poudel (30), were also among those injured in the accident. Information Officer of the Baglung District Police Office, Police Inspector Vijay Yadav, confirmed the details, adding that the identification of one of the injured individuals is yet to be completed.
Tejkumari Budha has been referred elsewhere for further treatment, while another injured individual is undergoing treatment at the Burtibang Hospital, as informed by Yadav. The authorities and local residents acted promptly to rescue the victims of the accident. Although 12 individuals were reportedly traveling in the jeep, the condition of the others was reported to be stable by the police.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed concern over the recurring road accidents in rural areas and emphasized the importance of ensuring road safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
