The Election Commission is gearing up to conduct elections for the vacant positions in the Rupandehi Constituency No. 3 of the House of Representatives and the Manang Constituency No. 1 (2) of the Gandaki Provincial Assembly in the upcoming month of Kartik. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been consulted by the commission regarding this matter.
The commission has informed the Nepali government about its preparations to announce the election dates by Ashar 16. Additionally, they have also made the Prime Minister aware of the 13 vacant ward chairperson positions in the local levels. Seeking cooperation for necessary facilitation from the government, the commission has assured Prime Minister Oli of their readiness for the upcoming elections in 18 vacant positions in the National Assembly and 13 ward chairperson positions at the local level.
In a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s office in Singh Durbar, Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari and other commissioners have discussed and sought advice from Prime Minister Oli regarding the election preparations.
In light of the upcoming elections for the vacant positions in Rupandehi Constituency No. 3 and Manang Constituency No. 1 (2), the commission is preparing to conduct the second phase of elections in Kartik based on the government’s consultation by Ashar 16.
Representative of Kansai Nepal News, Ramesh Khatri, expressed his opinion that the cooperation and trust between the Election Commission and the government displayed during the preparations for the upcoming elections are commendable. He believes that the proactive approach taken by Prime Minister Oli in advising and assisting the commission showcases a positive intent towards ensuring a smooth electoral process.
