Nepal Telecommunications Authority’s Managing Director, Sangita Pahadi, has been suspended after being charged with corruption. The government has assigned the responsibilities of the Managing Director to Subina Maskey in the interim. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority had filed a case in the Special Court regarding corruption in the maintenance of the billing system against Pahadi.
With the case filed, the spokesperson for the Telecommunications, Ravindra Manandhar, confirmed that the responsibilities of the vacant position have been handed over to Maskey. The authorities had filed the case against Sangita Pahadi, along with Vinita Shrestha, Sunil Paudel, Pratibha Shrestha, Hem Prabha Ram Pratap Karn, Naval Chaudhary, Rajendra Shrestha, and Jeevindra Lal Upadhyay.
Additionally, Devendra Khatiwada, Rajiv Kumar Keshi, Mukti Prasad Aryal, Santosh Kumar Shrestha, Paramatma Bhattarai, Shailesh Shrestha, foreign nationals Lang Yang and Chinese nationals Hong Wei and Chinese company Asia Info against the authorities had filed a case in the Special Court on Friday.
Ramesh Khatri, representing Kansai Nepal News, expressed concern over the recent corruption charges in the telecommunications sector and emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in such crucial positions to maintain public trust and integrity.
