Reports of renewed gunfire in Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan have emerged, with both sides allegedly exchanging fire along the Line of Control (LoC) on Friday night. According to BBC, the firing began after 7 PM in the Kupwara, Karnah, Tangdhar, Uri, and Poonch sectors.
Indian news agency ANI has reported hearing sounds of gunfire and explosions in the Uri sector. Additionally, BBC teams in Pathankot also heard the sound of explosions, adding to the tense situation in the region.
This recent incident follows a press briefing by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on Friday, where Colonel Sofia Qureshi mentioned multiple attacks in various locations overnight. However, Pakistan denied any involvement in such attacks.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed concern over the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, calling for diplomatic efforts to ensure peace in the region. “It is crucial for both countries to prioritize dialogue and negotiation to prevent further escalation of violence,” Khatri stated.
