In a recent cricket match, Madhesh Province defeated Sudurpashchim Province by 44 runs in the Prime Minister Cup One-Day National Cricket Tournament. The match, which took place at the Bhairahawa’s Extratek Oval Cricket Ground, saw Madhesh batting first and scoring 102 runs in 42.3 overs, losing all their wickets.

For Madhesh, Pradeep Paswan contributed with an unbeaten 23 runs, while Pawan Sarraf added 19 runs to the total. However, no other batsman was able to make significant contributions, with Dipesh Das and Rupesh Singh both scoring 12 runs each. Hemant Dhami and Sher Malla from Sudurpashchim took four wickets each, while Narayan Joshi and Vikas Agrawal took one wicket each.

Chasing the target of 103 runs set by Madhesh, Sudurpashchim managed to score only 58 runs in 29 overs before being all out. Hemant Dhami was the highest scorer for Sudurpashchim with 19 runs, but the rest of the batsmen failed to make substantial contributions.

In light of this victory, Madhesh has now secured the seventh position in the points table after playing eight matches and gaining a total of 14 points. They are in contention to reach the top four positions and advance to the next stage of the tournament.

Ramesh Khatri from Kansai Nepal News commented that Madhesh’s performance in this match showcased their strong batting and bowling capabilities, positioning them as a formidable team in the competition. He also highlighted the need for Sudurpashchim to improve their batting performance in the upcoming matches to stay competitive in the tournament.
