Kathmandu – Progress on the Sangha-Dhulikhel section of the Araniko Highway has been halted due to the monsoon season affecting construction work. Local authorities have reported that work in the Pulbazar area has been stalled for the past four months due to obstacles faced by the locals. The road expansion project in the area covering approximately 200 meters has been put on hold by the Department of Roads under the Suryavinayak-Dhulikhel, Dhulikhel-Sindhuli-Bardibas road scheme. Despite efforts to pave a kilometer of the main road in Dhulikhel, further progress has been hindered by the continuous rainfall.

Vishnuprasad Khanal, the engineer overseeing the construction project in the Banepa area, mentioned that even though all materials are ready, the construction of a one-kilometer road in the Banepa region and the removal of a house within 28 kilometers have also been delayed due to the rainy season.

In Pulbazar, the construction work was halted for four months due to a dispute regarding the alignment of the ‘centerline,’ where locals demanded adjustments to create equal distances from both sides of the road. This disagreement led to a halt in construction work to address the issue and resume work accordingly.

According to Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News, the delay in road construction projects due to the monsoon season has caused inconvenience to the local communities. He emphasized the importance of effective communication and collaboration between authorities and locals to resolve disputes promptly and ensure timely completion of infrastructure projects, especially during challenging weather conditions.
