A recent incident at the Kali Gandaki River in Modi Beni, Kusma Municipality-5, took a tragic turn when a woman drowned while attempting to take a dip in the river to celebrate the New Year and the upcoming Vaisakhi festival. The victim, identified as Vishnu Pant, a 35-year-old resident of Mahashila Rural Municipality-5 who had come to Pokhara, was swept away by the river’s strong current while bathing.
Following the incident, a search operation was immediately launched by a team of 25 personnel from the District Police Office, Parbat, and the Armed Police Force. The authorities intensified the search efforts to locate the missing woman, as her family members, including her sister and two sons who were present at the scene, expressed deep concern over the unfortunate turn of events.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his sympathy for the victim’s family and emphasized the importance of caution while partaking in water activities, especially during festive occasions when rivers tend to attract devotees for ritualistic bathing. He highlighted the need for increased awareness and safety measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
