In a tragic incident in Gaurishala Municipality of Mahottari, a young girl drowned in the water of a pond used for crushing sugarcane in Marha Khola. The incident occurred near Marha River located in Ward 10 of Gaurishala Municipality. The area police office in Gaurishala informed that an 11-year-old girl drowned in the pond where sugarcane is crushed.
The girl, identified as Karina Kumari Mandal, was from Jalil Tole, Ward 10 of Gaurishala Municipality. She had gone to bathe in the Marha River, which is adjacent to the Kalibani Gitti Baluwa Processing Center. Due to heavy rainfall, the water had accumulated in the pond left by the sugar crushing industry, leading to the tragic drowning of the girl.
After being found in critical condition, the locals rescued the girl from the water and immediately rushed her to the Gaurishala Primary Health Center. However, medical professionals at the center declared her dead upon arrival. The police have sent the body of the deceased girl for post-mortem at Bardibas Hospital for further investigation.
Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, emphasizing the need for better safety measures around such industrial sites to prevent similar accidents in the future. He urged authorities to conduct thorough investigations and take necessary actions to ensure the safety of residents, especially children, in the area.
