On the occasion of the 2569th Buddha Jayanti, celebrations are set to take place at the Guru Lhakhang Gumba in Boudhanath. The priceless relics of Lord Gautam Buddha, Kashyap Buddha, and the rare sight of the Swayambhu Mahachaitya will be displayed for devotees to view.

The organizers, Shri Boudhanath and Melamchi Ghyang Guthi, have planned a program in Kathmandu on Monday that includes a procession showcasing ancient statues of Lord Buddha along with the relics. The information was shared during a press conference where the Chairman of Ghyang Guthi, Chinese Lama Bhupatibazra Lama, mentioned the commencement of the global journey for world peace and human welfare under the theme ‘My Birth for Others.’

This journey, featuring the relics of Lord Buddha, aims to spread the message of Buddha’s wisdom, compassion, and knowledge to the world. It is believed to help Nepal gain recognition worldwide. This year’s Buddha Jayanti falls on the 29th of Vaishakh and is celebrated on the full moon day of Vaishakh every year as a tradition. A main celebration committee has been formed in the Buddhist community for this purpose.

Opinion from Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News: “The upcoming Buddha Jayanti celebrations at Boudhanath hold significant cultural and spiritual importance, symbolizing the teachings of Lord Buddha that resonate globally. It is a time for reflection, unity, and spreading the message of peace and compassion, which are essential in today’s world.”
