Jaynul Rai chosen as leader of Lospa Madhesi parliamentary party.

The Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (Lokspa) in Nepal’s Madhesh Pradesh has recently elected Jaynul Ray as the leader of its parliamentary party. This decision came after the party president, Mahanth Thakur, sent a letter to Ray appointing him to the position, following which he informed Madhesh’s Speaker Ramchandra Mandal on Monday.

Previously, the party was led by Abhiram Sharma. However, Sharma was implicated in the Thamnawa-Vik murder case related to the Madhes uprising, leading to his dismissal by the Pradesh Sabha in the past. Consequently, the leadership position within the Lokspa party was vacant.

In the letter sent by President Thakur to the Pradesh Sabha, it was mentioned that Ray was appointed as the parliamentary party leader without any dissent until further notice, according to the interim constitution of the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party Nepal. The letter also requested Ray’s approval as a member of the Pradesh Sabha.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his opinion on this news, stating, “The appointment of Jaynul Ray as the leader of the Lokspa parliamentary party in Madhesh Pradesh reflects a strategic move by the party to maintain stability and continuity in its leadership amidst recent developments. This decision signifies the party’s commitment to upholding democratic principles in the region.”
