The decision of the Nepali government to remove Kulman Ghising, the Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, by the Maoist Center’s Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stirred controversy. The move was criticized by Prachanda himself, who accused the government of making an inappropriate and controversial decision.
In a statement made on Monday evening through social media, Prachanda expressed his disapproval of the government’s decision to remove Kulman Ghising. He highlighted that during a time when the public was facing extreme power outages, the government, under his leadership, had appointed Kulman as the Executive Director of the Electricity Authority. Prachanda deemed the government’s action as completely wrong and unacceptable, criticizing what he referred to as a decision made based on false claims of a two-thirds majority.
Representing Kansai Nepal News, Ramesh Khatri shared his opinion on the matter, stating, “I strongly condemn the decision made by the government, which is reportedly based on false claims of a two-thirds majority. This move is completely wrong and unacceptable.”
Prachanda further emphasized on Ghising’s expertise and capabilities, attributing the success of building a brighter Nepal to their collective efforts. He mentioned that the pending dues of Kulman should have been collected from the public, and the motive behind his removal from the position was unjust and had been clarified repeatedly over a long period.
During the Cabinet meeting held on Monday evening, Hitendra Dev Shakya was appointed as the new Executive Director of the Electricity Authority, replacing Kulman Ghising.
