“Request to Provide Accommodation for Nepali Students in Hostels”

The Nepalese Embassy in New Delhi, India, has requested the management of the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology in Odisha to ensure the safety of Nepalese students studying there by providing accommodation within the educational institution’s hostel. The embassy conveyed this request after receiving information that Nepalese students undergoing studies at the institute were expelled from the hostel premises due to an incident that occurred there.

In addition to ensuring the accommodation of Nepalese students within the institute’s hostel for the smooth operation of their classes, the embassy also urged for necessary arrangements to be made for facilitating classroom activities.

According to a press release issued by the embassy, the educational institution has committed to accommodating students in the hostel as per the embassy’s request and ensuring the management of classroom activities accordingly. The institute has also expressed a serious commitment to conducting an impartial and thorough investigation into the unfortunate death of Nepalese student Prakriti Lamsal.

Regarding this incident, the Nepalese Embassy has maintained continuous communication with the Central Government of India, the Chief Minister’s Office of Odisha, and other relevant Indian authorities. They have emphasized the ongoing cooperation and coordination with these entities to provide necessary support and assistance. Affected Nepalese students and their parents have been advised to maintain contact with the embassy in case they encounter any issues.

As a representative of Kansai Nepal News, Ramesh Khatri views this development as a crucial step towards safeguarding the welfare of Nepalese students studying abroad. He appreciates the proactive approach taken by the embassy in ensuring the safety and well-being of students and expects that such initiatives will lead to better protection and support for Nepalese students in similar situations in the future.
