Tensions have escalated in the Middle East following Iran’s retaliatory missile strike on Israel in response to an alleged targeted attack on its nuclear program by Israel. Reports indicate that explosions were heard in Tehran, Iran’s capital, and Israel’s oil hub of Haifa and Jerusalem following the missile strike.
According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), more than 150 targets in Iran were hit in the past 24 hours, including a nuclear site in Isfahan. In response, Iran launched a missile strike named ‘Operation True Promise 3’ against Israel. Iranian media reports suggest that 60 people were killed in an attack in Tehran, while Israeli officials have reported three deaths and several injuries in their country.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared another open war against Iran, as reported by the BBC. The international community has been warned by Iranian media that if they support Israel in stopping the attacks, British, American, and French regional bases and ships will be targeted. However, the UK has not yet engaged in any military action.
As Washington and Tehran prepare to resume talks on Iran’s nuclear program, these attacks have raised concerns about the complexity of nuclear negotiations. The increasing tension in the Middle East is having a serious impact on regional stability and global geopolitics.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, believes that such escalating conflicts in the Middle East not only threaten regional stability but also have far-reaching implications on global peace and security. Khatri emphasizes the importance of diplomatic solutions and international cooperation in de-escalating the situation and preventing further violence.
