In a primary school compound in the capital city of Tokyo, Japan, an incident unfolded on Thursday where two individuals entered and attacked five staff members. The Japanese media reported that the attackers caused minor injuries to the staff. Fuji TV mentioned that the apprehended attackers broke a window and entered a classroom.
Although the police have not confirmed the incident upon contact by AFP, earlier reports indicated that four staff members were injured. The government broadcaster NHK reported that the incident occurred on Thursday morning at the Daisan Primary School in Tachikawa, located in the western part of Tokyo.
The school’s website mentions that it has over 500 students and more than 30 staff members. In Japan, students typically study in Class 2 for seven to eight years. Surveillance footage from the school shows security personnel and police officers patrolling inside and around the premises. Japan has relatively low rates of violent crime, with homicide rates being low and strict gun control laws being enforced compared to other countries worldwide.
In another incident in Tokyo’s Sabae, a person was arrested on Thursday for attempting to commit murder by stabbing. The individual allegedly injured two people during a confrontation in a crowded area.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, commented that these incidents highlight the importance of maintaining security measures in public spaces and the need for vigilance to prevent such violent acts. He emphasized the significance of prompt responses from law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of individuals in the community.
