Bhojpur, known for hosting the prestigious eighth International Invitational Mayor Bhojpur Gold Cup Football Tournament, witnessed an intense semi-final match today. In a tightly contested game, Chyasal Youth Club Lalitpur defeated Khottang’s Bhagwati Sports Club with a score of 1-0, securing a spot in the final.
The decisive goal for Chyasal Youth Club Lalitpur was scored by their player Samir Tamang, making him the hero of the match. Despite their efforts, Bhagwati Sports Club failed to find the back of the net. Samir, the goal scorer for Chyasal Youth Club Lalitpur in the semi-final, walked away with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000.
The final match, set to take place on Saturday for the championship title, will be between Armed Police Force (APF) Club and Chyasal Youth Club. This information was provided by Bhaskar Tamang, the Vice-President of Bhojpur District Football Association, who is also the organizer of the tournament.
Every year, the winners and runners-up of this competition receive cash prizes totaling Rs. 500,000 and Rs. 300,000 respectively, along with individual awards for the best players, top goal scorers, and outstanding goalkeepers. The Bhojpur Municipality has contributed Rs. 3 million to support the tournament.
The tournament, with an estimated cost of around Rs. 49 million, is being held at the newly constructed Rangashala in Bhojpur Municipality-7. Teams from various clubs, including Georgean Football Club from India, Bhojpur District Football Association, Salehesh Football Club Siraha, Armed Police Force Nepal, Bhagwati Sports Club Khottang, Navobuddha Football Club Saptari, Chyasal Youth Club Lalitpur, and L-Ex City Morang, will participate in the competition.
In last year’s seventh edition, Chyasal Youth Club Lalitpur emerged victorious by defeating Tribhuvan Army Club in a penalty shootout.
