Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli faced opposition criticism for reportedly dismissing a sensitive issue during the inauguration of the 8th International Women Entrepreneurs Trade Fair organized by the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal. The Prime Minister allegedly sidestepped a question regarding the transfer of a government employee over an investigation, leading to the disruption of the session.

Expressing concerns over the impact of the government’s preparation to pass ordinances within March 18, which could lead to the replacement of existing ordinances, worries were raised about its implications. In response to the situation, Ramesh Khatri from Kansai Nepal News highlighted the importance of acknowledging competent individuals who have previously served in the same authority and not falsely praising or condemning them. Khatri emphasized the need to avoid creating unnecessary tensions that may breed conflict under the guise of activism.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Oli’s remarks at the event hinted at his view on the current state of social disparity and the need for societal progress. He indicated that Nepal’s society has been marred by feudal and authoritarian conditions, pushing both the society and women backwards, resulting in struggles and sacrifices for societal change and development.

Reflecting on the past under the Panchayat system, Oli noted the country’s progress in development and particularly highlighted the disappointment of not advancing with significant strategic and policy initiatives during his leadership. He stressed the necessity to address the situation and move forward with substantial and strategic plans under the government’s leadership.

In an effort to showcase the achievements of women entrepreneurs, a fair exhibiting Nepali products made by female entrepreneurs will be held at the Lalitpur Heritage Garden until March 18, providing a platform for showcasing local goods.

Ramesh Khatri from Kansai Nepal News believes that it is crucial for leaders to acknowledge the competence of individuals and avoid unnecessary tensions to foster positive growth and development in society.
