Koshi Province’s Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki has announced plans to take legal action against those involved in cooperative mismanagement. This decision was revealed during a discussion on the implementation of cooperative laws and related issues organized by the Ministry of Industry, Agriculture, and Cooperatives.
Chief Minister Karki emphasized the need to take strict measures against those embezzling funds meant for cooperative members. He highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring justice for individuals who diligently save money to support their children’s education and home construction.
Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Ram Bahadur Magar expressed the government’s dedication to supporting cooperatives in contributing to the economic prosperity of the public by enforcing laws. Meanwhile, Industry, Agriculture, and Cooperatives Minister Khageshwar Hangama highlighted the increasing challenges faced by cooperatives engaged in urban-centered businesses.
Ramesh Pokharel, a senior vice president of the National Cooperative Federation, stressed the importance of resolving current cooperative issues to pave the way for progress and prosperity.
Bharat Bahadur Thapa, chairman of the Cooperative Management Committee in crisis-ridden Koshi Province, along with cooperative members Uddhav Prasad Timalsina, Yakshanath Dahal from Bagmati Pradesh, and committee member Jeevan Kafla, have been actively mobilizing fundraising efforts nationwide through service centers to address the growing trend of cooperative mismanagement.
In the program, cooperative victims expressed their urgent need for the swift return of their savings, prioritizing legal matters as a pressing concern.
