In Kathmandu, the Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, has accused the Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Kulman Ghising, of negligence. This allegation was made during a special session of the House of Representatives where Minister Khadka raised questions about Ghising’s work style.
Minister Khadka mentioned that while Ghising may have done some good work, he should be held accountable for his actions and decisions. Specifically, Khadka questioned the reasons behind the construction of transmission lines to import electricity from India and whether it was justified given the current load shedding situation.
Regarding the issue, Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his opinion. He emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in government actions. Khatri stated that it is crucial for authorities to address any irregularities promptly and not turn a blind eye to them. In his view, the government should take appropriate measures to ensure responsible behavior from officials.
In addition to the accusation of negligence, Minister Khadka urged fellow lawmakers to raise more questions about government employees to hold them accountable. He highlighted the need for greater scrutiny and oversight in ensuring that public officials fulfill their duties effectively.
