Kathmandu – The announcement of the prize money for this year’s Club World Cup to be held in the United States has been made. FIFA, the highest governing body of world football, has declared that the prize money for the competition with 32 teams will be one billion dollars.
This amount is significantly higher than the prize money allocated for the recent Men’s and Women’s World Cup competitions. FIFA estimates that a total of two billion dollars in revenue will be generated from the Club World Cup. A portion of this revenue is intended to be invested in the development of world club football.
“FIFA does not keep even a dollar,” stated Gianni Infantino, the President of FIFA, regarding the revenue and expenses generated from the competition. In addition to this, FIFA has secured sponsorship agreements with companies such as Coca-Cola, Bank of America, Chinese electronics brand Hisense, and Belgian brewer AB InBev.
The FIFA Club World Cup is scheduled to be held in various 12 cities across the United States. The competition aims to bring together the top clubs from around the world in a prestigious tournament.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his opinion on this news, stating that the substantial prize money and global sponsorship deals secured by FIFA demonstrate the increasing commercialization and popularity of club football on a global scale. He also highlighted the potential positive impact of the revenue generated from the competition on the development of club football infrastructure worldwide.
